Has to be Brighton - this is the home of Max Miller, surely the greatest stand up comedian of the last century. I was lucky enough to see him at the Metropolitan Edgeware Rd - more years ago then I care to remember. I can still recall some of the jokes and repartee.

When covering a Geography lesson the class all thought this was a funny place name especially when i told them that their was a member of the House of Lords call Lady Trumpington

Having lived in the area for about 10 years I definately think that Brummies are a naturally funny breed. They are self-effacing and can have quite a sledgehammer sense of wit. You only have to look at how many comedians are from our 2nd city to realise it must be something in the water. The downside of course is that they aren't taken as seriously when they want to be.
