Ribble Valley

Ribble Valley

The pretty village of Dunsop Bridge in the Ribble Valley has officially been declared the very centre of the British Isles. 'The Journey Through the Centre of the Kingdom' 46-mile way marked walk is certainly the most adventurous route to take, beginning at the Norman Castle in the historic market town of Clitheroe, passing a ruined Cistercian Abbey and medieval churches set in one of the most unspoilt Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Forest of Bowland.

Idyllic country life continues as it always has done throughout the area in the treasure trove of well preserved villages, some of which have deservedly been celebrated by the media. The quiet country lanes, footpaths and bridleways make exploration a real pleasure, whether walking, cycling, on horseback or touring by car, providing panoramic views of dramatic hills and fells, valleys, woodland and wild moorland, filled with fascinating wildlife.

In the market towns and picturesque villages such as Chipping, Whitewell and Slaidburn you will find a wide selection of first class accommodation, restaurants and shops with a reputation for excellent service, value for money and a warm Lancashire welcome. Within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty you may be tempted to try bed and breakfast on a working farm or an historic inn, self-catering in one of our many lovely country cottages or enjoy the luxury of one of our top hotels with spacious suites, mouthwatering cuisine and private fishing or golf facilities.
