Jimmy McGovern, multi-award-winning author of Hillsborough, Cracker and The Street brings a new musical to The Lowry, from an original idea by Ian Brownbill. Music is by Howard Goodall. Set during the Lancashire cotton famine and the American Civil War, King Cotton tells the story of Tom, an impoverished mill-worker in the North West of England, and of Sokoto, a black slave from an American cotton plantation. www.thelowry.com
