The Chase

Wildlife

In total over 200 different bird species have been recorded at the Chase. Visiting the reserve a number of times throughout the year should ensure sightings of Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Golden Plover, Lapwing, and Reed Warbler, amongst many others. In addition to the wildlife described above the Chase nature reserve also contains: small areas of woodland scrub with the rare Black Poplar tree, meadows which harbour butterflies. and Grass-snakes, and the River Rom which provides a home for Sticklebacks, Damselflies and Water Voles.
