Landford Bog

Wildlife

On the edge of the New Forest, Landford Bog is a fine example of lowland bog and wet heath - an internationally rare habitat. A narrow strip of birch woodland borders the bog and an acid grassland restoration project involving grazing by New Forest ponies is also underway. Wildlife includes the diminutive sundew, a carnivorous plant, purple moor grass and rare bog mosses as well as adder, the spectacularly marked raft spider and sparrowhawk.
