The large number of habitats on Narborough Bog make it especially rich in many forms of wildlife. Over 130 species of birds have been recorded here, including all three species of woodpeckers, six species of tits, and tawny owl. A good variety of butterflies also occur. The wood contains crack-willow, alder, birch, pedunculate oak, ash and sycamore whilst the shrub layer includes hawthorn, elder, field maple, guelder-rose and dogwood.
An interesting and varied ground flora contains red campion and skullcap us well as more unusual species. South of the railway, the meadow nearest to the motorway is of greatest interest. This field is a remnant of a once much larger area of wet meadow and contains species such as southern marsh-orchid, meadow saxifrage, common meadow-rue and marsh thistle.
