Norfolk wherries, in their hey day in the 19th century, were designed to carry all sorts of cargo around the Broads - reeds for roofs, food for villages and coal for fires. Their use declined as roads and railways were built, but now you can relive past memories on three of only seven remaining wherries. 'Hathor', 'Olive' and 'Norada', are operated by Wherry Yacht Charter and are now a familiar and much loved sight on the Broads. These beautiful, Edwardian boats will take you around the Broads in graceful style with their wooden interiors and cosy cabins. You don't even need step foot off your boat, unless of course you want to eat, drink and relax at a local riverside pub, or sample country walks, nature reserves, and fascinating medieval churches in some beautiful landscapes.
