Banbury, Oxfordshire

Bunbury, Oxfordshire

Extensive improvements at the heart of Banbury have created a regenerated and vibrant canal corridor through the town, with new bridges and access for wheelchair users as well as a canalside shopping complex. The renovated historic Tooley’s boatyard, now part of the new Banbury Museum, provides a working monument to Banbury’s past alongside the dramatic new shopping centre and museum.

New moorings have been created to encourage boaters to stop and explore the many delights of the town, including its bustling market on Thursdays and Saturdays and farmers market on the first Friday of every month. Banbury Cross is also a short walk away. The present cross is a replica of the original, referred to in the nursery rhyme “Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross”.
