Heritage coasts - Spurn Head

Spurn Head

The sea is in turn building and eroding this unique hooked peninsula of sand and shingle.

As an SSSI (www.english-nature.org.uk/special/sssi/) (Site of Special Scientific Interest), geomorphologists monitor its changing shape and, in spring and autumn, migrating birds pause here in their thousands, attracting visitors to the bird observatory.
