RHS Chelsea Flower Show
20-24 May 2008
Imagine a garden so breathtakingly beautiful that it appears out of nowhere in May only to vanish five days later. Imagine the best garden designers, plantsmen and plantswomen coming together to create the most famous flower show in the world. It’s this wonder of horticultural magic that makes the RHS Chelsea Flower Show unique and totally unmissable.
As befits the start of the summer season, the emerging theme for 2008 is ‘High Fashion’. Manolo Blahnik, the iconic shoe designer, is the artist behind this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show illustration – Daylily. Features not to be missed will include Jo Malone’s display with planting selected by the florist Matthew Dickinson and a garden designed by Rachel de Thame for LK Bennett.
Diamuid Gavin is working on an Art Deco Hotel Garden, while ‘elegantly understated’ defines Tom Stuart-Smith’s creation for this year’s Laurent-Perrier garden. Robert Myers will be creating a space of cool, blending elements of the Cadogan Estate from its foundation by Sir Hans Sloane with more contemporary urban spaces.
The RHS’s mission to promote environmentally responsible gardening will be evident throughout the show with many initiatives and resources for visitors. From the affordable to the exotic there’s something for everyone at Chelsea.
