Michael Faraday (1791-1867)
London-born Faraday is referred to as the greatest experimentalist in the history of science who contributed significantly to the fields of electromagnetism and electrochemistry. He was responsible for the forerunner to the Bunsen burner and it was largely due to his efforts that electricity became a viable technology.
