Intended to promote healthy eating and sustainable farming, the Occombe Farm complex in Paignton, Devon is spread over a 150 acres site, which now features a Farm Shop, Café, Bakery, Butchers and Study Centre – as well as a 2km long nature-trail around a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Lots to see and do
Free to visit, and open all year, Occombe Farm will have a broad appeal to families and visitors of all ages. Children, for example, will be encouraged to become involved in the bread-making process and, as well as being able to enjoy the well-marked nature trail, everyone will be able to keep a very close eye on the local wildlife through the careful positioning of webcams around the site. The 40-seater café, meanwhile, will serve locally-sourced food and drink.
Expected to become a leader in the educational field, in addition to reconnecting people with farming, food and the countryside, Occombe Farm is likely to become one of the 'must-see' places on The English Riviera (www.englishriviera.co.uk/home/index.asp).
