Michelin 2007: More stars than ever!
The new Michelin Guide contains more starred establishments than ever before. In London the new one stars are:
- La Noisette in Sloane Street, Chelsea - chef Bjorn van der Horst previously cooked at the Michelin-starred Greenhouse.
- Benares in Mayfair - chef Atul Kochhar was previously at Tamarind, when it was one of the first two Indian restaurants in London to gain a star.
- Arbutus in Soho - chef Anthony Demetre previously cooked at the starred Putney Bridge, before it closed
- L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Covent Garden (no website – for more information check out www.squaremeal.co.uk)
Outside London, new Michelin stars are The Abbey in Penzance; The Harrow in Marlborough, Wiltshire; and Seaham Hall, in Seaham, Durham.
Rising stars
Ones to watch for the future are Fraiche in Birkenhead (also a rising star last year); West Stoke near Chichester; Cotswold House in Chipping Campden; Combe House near Honiton in Devon; St Martin’s on the Isle, in the Scilly Isles; and Galvin at Windows in Mayfair. One-starred Foliage, at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel, is tipped as a future two star.
