This tea and coffee tasting bar is owned and run by a company of tea merchants – it doesn’t get much more specialist than this! A family firm of tea blenders and tea bag manufacturers, which supplies stately homes and restaurants with their favourite brew, offers casual visitors the chance to sample the same high quality. From Formosa Oolong and Ceylon Orange Pekoe to Russian Caravan and a range of flavoured teas, each one is clearly described, and served on its own or with a traditional afternoon accompaniment like cucumber sandwiches, home-made cake, or scone with jam and cream. The less exotic teas and a choice of five house blends are also listed, along with a mouthwatering array of pure Arabica coffee beans. Light meals and snacks, such as filled jacket potatoes, ploughman’s lunch, salads and sandwiches are served throughout the day. Tours of the premises and tea tastings can be arranged, and there’s a shop selling tea caddies, teapots and of course tea!
