In summer a lovely walled cottage garden is just the place for afternoon tea. At other times the light and spacious tea shop with its pretty tablecloths and pine furniture is a magnet for tourists. Parts of Lostwithiel date from the late 13th century, but Muffins has moved with the times and serves a variety of tasty meals throughout the day, based where possible on fresh local produce. The Cornish Cream Teas are hard to beat, with their delicious Trewithen clotted cream and strawberry jam, or you can try the famous home-made muffins. The Tea Guild has awarded it a prestigious ‘Excellent’, and you can buy food and gifts to take home.
