This instantly welcoming tea shop occupies a pair of 18th century cottages that have been knocked into one. At either end a stone fireplace blazes in winter, and in the summer the flower-filled courtyard tempts visitors outside. Dotted around the spacious primrose-painted room are items for sale - pottery, paintings, small antiques, dried flowers and gifts - and fresh flowers brighten the tables. Rarebits are a savoury speciality here, with quiches, pâtés, and jacket potatoes, plus home-made cakes and puddings. When it comes to teatime, the speciality loose leaf teas and fat scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream prove to be winners every time.
