Gilbert White's House

The great naturalist himself would be familiar with the food served in this very English tea room, since it's all made from authentic 18th-century recipes. Produce from his garden goes into mushroom and chestnut pasty, homity pie, and tureen of hodge podge at lunchtime, and 'the best orange pudding that was ever tasted' dating from around 1714. A delicious array of cakes includes date and walnut slice, and the rich Rachel Manaton's plum cake, while a generous selection of speciality teas is freshly brewed to wash it all down. The tea parlour is furnished and decorated in period style, with original family paintings on the walls.
