The invitation to take tea at Botham's is an irrestible one involving wonderful cakes and pastries made from Victorian recipes, and a huge range of rare and fine teas. Botham's was established in 1865 by Elizabeth Botham and is still run by here great-grandchildren. The first-floor tea-rooms offer scones and teabreads, cream teas and toasts, special lunches such as quiche and chips, jacket potatoes, salads and sandwiches. Afternoon tea comes with a pot of your choice: you'll find China Yunnan, Java Gunpowder and Darjeeling First Flush Bannockburn, or if your taste is for coffee, a variety of classic blends. Dressed in reassuring black and white, the staff at Botham's offer an attentive and friendly service and serve a truly mouth-watering array of cakes and confectionery.
