Afternoon tea

The UK Tea Council has announced the winners of The Tea Guild's predstigious Top London Afternoon Tea Award and Top Tea Place for 2007. The Dorchester Hotel and Peacock's Tearoom in Ely, Cambridgeshire won these awards respectively. Tea and afternoon tea have played important roles in our culture for many years and there are some fine tearooms to be found in England. To help you discover them, we've teamed up with AA Britain's Best Afternoon Tea to bring you information on some of the best ones.

The guide features a wide range of inspected establishments from the best local tea shops to grand hotels throughout England. Most of the places featured are members of the Tea Guild (www.teacouncil.co.uk/newtc/cate/index.htm), which is part of the Tea Council (www.teacouncil.co.uk)
