Oxted is a town divided by a railway station, with the Gurkha Kitchen located on Station Road East (on the East side of the railway line) but right in the middle of Oxted town centre. The food is perfectly cooked Nepalese  fare, but it isn’t earth village food. It’s slightly evolved and modern, yet indisputably Nepalese. First-class starters include: Bhutuwa (melt-in-the-mouth chicken livers stir fried in a delicately spiced light sauce, served in a small wafer basket); Vegetable Khaja (filo pastry wrapped up like a spring roll, but not so thick, with a vegetable filling and mint and mustard dressing). Wash this down with a few bottles of Kathmandu bottled beer.
