A turbaned doorman welcomes you at a very ordinary street-level door, but upstairs the décor is a revelation. It’s exotic, with traditional Moghul paintings and an antique Hawali (palace) door, specially brought from India. Specials include: Murgh Lahori, bone-off spring chicken, tangy spices, green coriander, cream, yoghurt, tomatoes and ginger; Daal Mash, white lentils cooked in butter with ginger, garlic and fried onion; Strawberry Lassi (large jug). Minimum charge: £16 evenings. Lunch: eat-as-much-as-you-like £4.95.
