Discover The Hamilton Landscapes created by the Hon Charles Hamilton. For here, more than beautiful gardens, are living works of art, the original landscapes of 18th-century England. From evergreen amphitheatre to Gothic Temple; from magical crystal grotto to curious Turkish Tent; even, uniquely, a vineyard in the ornamental setting of an historic landscape.
The Painshill vineyard flourished between approximately 1740 and 1812 and was replanted in 1992 and 1993 with 24 rows of Pinot Noir, 11 rows of Chardonnay and 36 rows of Seyval blanc. The sparkling wine originally produced by Charles Hamilton was so good that the French ambassador of the time, the Duke de Mirepoix, thought it was genuine champagne.
Painshill Park’s grapes are grown in the park and made into wine at the Valley Vineyards in Twyford, Berkshire.
Wine inventory: Brut, Seyval Blanc, Rosé.
