Leventhorpe Vineyard, situated within the boundaries of the City of Leeds, is England’s most northerly commercial vineyard.  It’s within easy reach of the M1 motorway and rail network.  The vineyard revives the tradition of wine making in Yorkshire established by the Cistercian monks of Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds and the Benedictines of York.

The five-acre vineyard was established in 1985.  It employs traditional methods together with modern equipment and techniques to produce a range of wines – white, red and sparking (made in the traditional method).  The main wines are Seyval and Madeleine Angevine, both early ripening white varieties, and Triomphe, a red grape.  Other white varieties are available in smaller quantities.

  • Open: Saturday 11.00-17.00, Sunday 12.00-16:00. Also open most weekdays 11.00-17:00 (if travelling a distance, please telephone before your journey). No entrance fee; free tasting – 'try before you buy'.
  • Guided tours: can be arranged for groups from mid July to mid September. These include a vineyard walk, winery talk and free tastings.  Advance booking is required. Tour costs plus details available on request.

Wine inventory: White: Leventhorpe Madeleine Angevine, Leventhorpe Seyval, Leventhorpe Madeleine Sylvaner, Leventhorpe White Rosé. Leventhorpe West Riding Red. Leventhorpe Brut (sparkling, made in the ‘traditional’ method).
