Lathcoats Farm
Lathcoats Farm
Garden-less? Or don’t have room for your own apple tree? Lathcoats Farm in Essex run a rent-a-tree scheme and you can register from 1 December for the 2009 season. Choose between Bramley (£25), Cox, Jonagold or Gala (£15). You’ll have to do the hard work – but picking apples is serious fun, and you’ll receive a guaranteed minimum of 13kg. Of course, you can visit the farm at weekends before harvest time to check on the progress of your tree, and you’ll certainly be welcome this year on 18 October, their Apple Day, to sample some of the 40 varieties of apple they grow.
