Cotehele Estate
Cotehele Estate
Cotehele, a glorious house run by the National Trust, has recently restored its giant 19th century horse-powered cider press. This month, they plan to move it to their newly-planted Mother Orchard, full of Tamar Valley-specific apple trees. You can visit the press in situ but it’ll be another five years before the trees are producing enough fruit for pressing.
In the meantime, they’re still making juice from other organic orchards on the estate. Try it – it’s famous for an ‘apple pie’ aroma and you can buy it in their farm shop.
