5. Sidmouth - Devon

Sidmouth

Tucked between impressive red cliffs and the hills of Sid Valley, Sidmouth is an idyllic seaside resort which boasts beautiful beaches and regency history.

Poet Laureate John Betjeman was enchanted by the place and summed it up perfectly when he described it as ‘a feast of visual delight’. The town’s appeal is easy to appreciate with its well-maintained seafront parks and gardens, traditional shops, restaurants and friendly welcome.

Bordering one side of the town is the Sid Valley, a great place to explore – whether by car, bike or on foot, and the cliff top Connaught gardens provide stunning views out to sea.
