London City Secrets

Asto Bar & Grill formerly the Atlantic.
This trendy nite spot - once a former ballroom - is often favoured by the celebrity in-crowd with its huge central bar and glamourous, but elegant chic. Situated at the edge of Soho, the restaurant offers modern British food, but if it's a wild night you're after, head straight for Dick's Bar for champagne or you could always peruse their extensive cocktail menu.

Eltham Palace
Originally a moated manor house bought by Edward II in 1305, Eltham Palace was bought by Stephen Courtauld in 1933. Having restored the Great Hall, he then built for his wife a remarkable Art Deco house in which she could indulge in society entertaining. Once you've explored this fascinating architectural treasure, you can wander the 19 acres of moated gardens, stop for a picnic or enjoy refreshments in the Tea Room.

2 Willow Road, National Trust.
Number Two, Willow Road, isn't, perhaps, what you'd usually expect from a National Trust property. It is in fact one of Britain’s finest examples of Modern Movement architecture, and the former home of Modernist architect Erno Goldfinger - complete with original furnishings and modern art. Its uniqueness comes from Goldfinger having lived there right up until its acquisition by The National Trust.
