Lincoln Day Trips

Doddington Hall
This impressive mansion has retained its Elizabethan exterior but contains within a Georgian interior with a substantial collection of pictures, textiles, porcelain and furniture that reflect four centuries of stately life. Built in 1600 by the Elizabethan architect Robert Smithson, the hall is surrounded by impressive grounds and parkland and incorporates a contemporary gatehouse, walled garden and family church. Doddington Hall hosts a number of all-year-round activities.

Burghley House
The majestic Burghley House is one of the largest and most impressive of the first Elizabethan age. Built between 1555 and 1587, and mostly designed by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth, visitor facilities include the Orangery restaurant, Gift Shop, Sculpture Garden, and historic parkland complete with Fallow deer. It was also used during the filming of the recent remake of Pride and Prejudice.

Whisby Natural World & Nature Park
There is a wealth of eco-attractions and activities to enjoy at the Whisby Natural World Centre - a vast area of lakes, woodland, ponds, heath and wildlife. Step inside a thunderstorm and be enlightened by the weather shower in the Our World exhibition, or take the kids to one of their may holiday workshops.
