Cambridge day trips
Ely Cathedral
Also known as the “Ship of the Fens”, this extraordinary cathedral dates from 1081, and boasts the Octagon Tower and the beautiful Lady Chapel.
Newmarket Race Course
Racing began at Newmarket over three centuries ago, and a day at the races is as much fun now as it was then. Choose from Newmarket’s two race courses, the Rowley Mile and the July Course, and if you have time, pop in to the National Horseracing Museum.
Chilford Hall Vineyard
Cambridge may be dry, but it is also notoriously cold, so it may surprise you to discover this eighteen acre vineyard and winery in the middle of the Fens. In fact, the East Anglian tradition of wine making dates back to the Romans and Chilford Hall produces some of the finest English wines, including an award-wining sparkling wine.
