Bristol architecture

Bristol Science Centre

Visitors to Bristol will be fascinated to see some of the recent RIBA award-winning architectural designs in the city.  Just two minutes from Bristol city centre is Explore @ Bristol a magnificent waterside exhibition space fusing old and new, where science is brought alive through stunning visuals and over 170 interactive experiences. Incorporating the existing Grade II listed Great Western Railway goods shed, the elegant arches have small cross sections deliberately exposed, and a 9 by 90 metre glass wall to add a stunning contemporary dimension. Not far away in Clifton is the visually striking Dance Studio at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Built on stilts, the studio's glass walls allow the passer by to enjoy the activity, adding movement to the impact of this elevated building.

Wherever possible we have tried to choose schemes that are available for the general public to appreciate, that are near to one another, and can be enjoyed on foot. There are other RIBA award-winning buildings at this destination.

www.architecture.com has details of all nationally awarded winners since 2002.
