ondon is probably the last place you’d expect to find tiger sharks (unless you’re strolling past the Houses of Parliament), but at Sea Life London Aquarium there’s a whole load of them swimming about happily.

These scary-looking creatures grow up to three metres long, feeding on small fish that they hunt on the ocean floor, and are generally found in the Pacific Islands.

There are 40 sharks here altogether, along with thousands of other shimmering, glimmering underwater creatures. In fact the Seal Life centre is home to more than 500 marine species from around the world – including turtles (everyone’s favourite), clownfish, octopuses and seahorses.

You’ll find them floating about in 14 specially themed zones, spread over three floors – our favourite being the Rainforests of the World, which is home to two highly endangered Cuban crocodiles who arrived recently. Did you know they’re the only croc species who can jump out of the water to catch their prey?

The thing we love about this place is that it’s not just about looking. Head to the ‘Dive Discovery’ rock pools and you can lean over and give the crabs, anemones and starfish a stroke. You might want to wash your hands afterwards, though…
