Largest Georgian interior in the city

o you spend your evenings sat in front of Strictly shouting at the TV, thinking you can do better? Well, it’s time to dust off those dancing shoes and head to the Assembly Rooms Ballroom in Bath to cash that cha-cha cheque with your twinkle toes.

Spinning and pirouetting yourself around the ornate ballroom is a long way from strutting your funky stuff in the early hours at the local nightclub or jiving to Elvis in the kitchen. Completed back in 1771, the Assembly Rooms are about as grand as it gets so be prepared to feel a little awestruck.

The Ballroom itself is a calf-aching 100 ft long, making it the largest Georgian interior in Bath. So while there’s plenty of space to perfect those steps, there is no excuse for treading on your partner’s toes.

Five original Whitefriars crystal chandeliers complete the opulent setting, the Georgian equivalent of mirror balls hang from the ceiling refracting the light. It doesn’t matter if you want to get hot under the collar with a sexy tango or enjoy a slow waltz; you’re sure to be inspired by such sumptuous surroundings.

The afternoon dances at the Assembly are open to all levels so fear not if you’re no Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers. At any rate, you’ll be better than John Sergeant.
