A working farm with a boutique feel
Y
ou know, if you want to get away from it all you really don’t have to go very far. Dannah Farm Hotel is an unlikely mix of working farm and private spa but the weird hybrid makes for a pretty relaxing break.
In The Cabin, the onsite spa with its bubbling outdoor hot tub and pinewood Finnish sauna, you can lock out the rest of the world and stay in there ‘til your fingertips turn wrinkly – before sitting back on your private terrace and looking out over rolling farmland. If the odd sheep pokes its head over the fence, take no notice – they’re very friendly. Oh and don't forget to give a little attention to the adorable Kune-Kune pigs and farm cats.
As you’d expect from such a unique B&B, the rooms all have their own individual quirks. In the Wilderbrook Room, for example, there’s a double spa bath complete with TV, so you can turn on the side jets as you switch on Eastenders.
Meanwhile, the Red Room is a stark contrast to this – and a favourite with sleepy-heads – thanks to its enormous handmade wooden bed.
If you do feel like being sociable there’s a roaring fire in the guests’ sitting room, or 154 acres of farmland (including a Medieval moat) to explore.
And don’t get us started on the breakfast: eggs from the farm’s hens, home-baked bread, sausages from nearby butcher, Jerry Howarth; you get the idea...
