Certainly makes you feel better about commuting to work in England. I've visited Tokyo on a number of occasions but have yet to see the infamous 'train pushers'!

Slightly off topic, but back in the good old days of British Rail, and I mean that most sincerely folks, I used to enjoy the BR Rail Rovers. You could purchase a weekly ticket for anyone of several Rovers and travel about within its boundary for a full week. The only restrictions were, obviously the boundary, and the timing of the first train journey and non use of first class. There was a 1st Class All-line Rail Rover, but the cost was out of my reach.
A friend and I would leave our wives behind and clear off for a weeks travel which was both immensely enjoyable and very hard work. The idea was to get to as many places as possible and take loads of photos and then sleep on the train during the night. It was advisable to be at the far end of the country at night and travel to the other end during the night to get the maximum amount of sleep. The amount of kit we carried made it very hard work, but what a fantastic time we had. We ended up at Exeter one day and had to wait on the platform for our next train for about an hour. After a while I heard some people laughing and turned to see my friend asleep, standing up wedged between two trolleys.

Sounds like your friend really could sleep anywhere! I hope he didn't fall over when he woke up.
