Hi Craig. Welcome to the forum. I just had a look at some of your photos they are great. I've only visited the Lakes once and I thought the scenery was out of this world. Why not add a couple of your photos to one of the threads (favourite places or similar?) or even start a new one? I am sure other people would love to see them too!Dancing

Wow, thanks Katie, you dont know how good that is to hear. I have tried entering professional photographers chat forums asking for their opinion and it would be fair to say they are not quite so kind, i have to remind them that it is just a hobby and a bit of fun doing what i love so its really nice to hear a positive remark. the Lakes is my favourite place as well i have been there a fair few times now with Windermere, even though the most 'toursity' place is still my favourite - the cumbrian mountains were special as well and i was lucky enough to be there when it snowed a few weeks ago. I have just been to spain for a week and have added some more photos - i know they are not England but i do like the photos.

i will have a go at submitting some photos but dont know how at this point but will work on it

thanks Katie

Hi

Well done with the photography Craig. It's a hobby that's given my a lot of pleasure despite a few knock-backs. You have to learn to take criticism on the chin I'm afraid and as you progress you may find that you will agree with some of the adverse ones later on. Some of my 'masterpieces' went in the bin years ago. Fortunately digital cameras allow plenty of practice without the cost, although the cost did mean more care had to be taken. My advice is, no tilting horizon - unless it's for artistic effect, and the same with blur. If it's slightly out of focus, or suffering from camera shake, forget it. At the risk of repeating myself, I have a few here on Geograph...

..and I think you too could enjoy joining in and adding to the site.

I can't afford a website unfortunately (unless we're talking a few bob a week) so I resort to posting on Geograph at 640x480, Photobucket at a maximum of 1024x768 and Mediafire, which allows full-size, but has the annoying habit of rejecting the occasional image out of a set and no matter what I do nothing works to get it to be accepted.

Dave

Edit - How about a link back to www.enjoyengland.com/forum on your website. If there is one, sorry I didn't spot it.

...just remembered my favourite knock-back. I sent 2,000 flower photographs to a well known gardening magazine. The reply was not a word of thanks, but a leaflet for a photography course on 'How to take better photographs'. Cheeky beggars.

Keep up the good work.

Dave
