Hello robbothan - thanks for picking up on our recent improvements. The video and the map will help us show you the places that other visitors to this site have been recommending.
We have a few ideas on how to improve the forum - but as its quite new we are taking it in small steps. Watch out for some quirky rankings, which could be appearing next to your name very soon!

Hello Moderator - why did you *** out the name of that village I mentioned in the post about places with funny names? That is the name of the place! Is it not an insult to that village to do this?

Is it not an insult to that village to do this? Hello Varangarian - our forum automatically stars out commonly used swear words in order to prevent abusive language from appearing on posts. Unfortunately as this is automated it applies generically to all posts. I think you are right though (it does not insult the name of the place or our users to show its full name) and as we've had no problems with people posting abusive language I'll risk removing the command on that word for now.

Thanks Moderator - I believe Shitterton is one of those places where all the residents could afford to leave if they wanted to. They probably take a perverse pride in the name of the place.
Cockshutt, when it was a field, was next to another field called Asshole - unlike the former, this has not survived as a road name, but hundreds of people still live on it.

This situation is known in the computing world as the S****horpe Problem, which I see has been starred out. To fill in the stars, the name of the town is a well know place near Brigg in Lincolnshire. AOL's filter also cut the offending sub-string out.
