One of the most family friendly restaurants I've been to was in Portobello Road. I can't remember the name of it, only that it was Lebanese and the owners were very friendly, one of their guests also a Lebanese gentlemen kept picking my children up every time they walked past, which they thought was very funny and thus kept asking if they could go to the toilet! The food was great too - we must go back there!
There is a great curry house in the village where I live and they were very pleased to see my wife and I go in with our two girls a couple of weeks back. This is what I really appreciate when I go out for a meal with my family... owners and waiters who appear to genuinely love children. What does anyone else think? Is this the most important thing or does it come down to facilities for kids?

Years ago when I was a kid my parents got invited on a tv programme to discuss this subject. At the time there were not as many child friendly pubs and restaurants as there are now. Things have changed alot and if my kids are made to feel welcomed and happy then I am happy.

England is well known for country pubs, which have big gardens with things kiddies can play on yet does not have a reputation for being family friendly. Is this fair or are we anti-child?
Or are we just anti-noise please I'm trying to eat?

Not too sure - I think some people just don't like any noise!!! I have found that in places like Italy they do tend to be much more welcoming to children and include them in the whole eating out experience (which in turn keeps the children more content and quieter!).
