Wetherby

Wetherby

The charming, historic town of Wetherby on the banks of the River Wharfe is centred in the triangle of Leeds, York and Harrogate. It's a fascinating place to visit with lots to offer. Perfect scenery in an area of great natural beauty, well preserved period architecture, a host of places to eat and drink and great local shopping.

There are many small specialist shops, selling everything from high-class gifts, pottery and glass to furniture and needlecraft. Lovely teashops, too – the best streets to check out are around Market Place, High Street, North Street, Westgate, Church Street and Bank Street. The produce market is held each Thursday and the recently established Farmers’ Market is on the second Sunday of every month.

If you like the odd flutter, Wetherby Races take place from October to May. The racecourse is unique to Yorkshire as it only stages jump racing: many of the greatest steeplechasers and hurdlers of all time have run here. Wetherby also plays host to the annual Bramham International Horse Trials.

Whether you want a relaxing weekend in beautiful, tranquil surroundings in the heart of Yorkshire or a week with plenty to see and do, Wetherby is the perfect choice.
