Malham
The little village of Malham lies at the heart of this dale and is the perfect starting point for exploring some of the most spectacular limestone scenery in the national park. Malham Cove and Gordale Scar, geological wonders formed through the action of ice and water, have been attracting visitors for over 200 years.
The countryside around Malham is easy to explore on foot. If you are fit enough, the view from the top of the Cove is well worth the steep steps, but if you prefer just to stroll, a walk to Janet's Foss or along the riverside at Airton is well worth the effort.
Malham Moor, above the Cove, can be wild and bleak, but Malham Tarn nestles there like a jewel. See it when the sun is setting and you will have a memory to treasure forever.
