Filey
An elegant English seaside town at its traditional, friendly best, Filey is an unspoilt haven in a busy world. Its magnificent five mile stretch of golden sand, protected by the rocky grandeur of Filey Brigg, is the perfect place for people wanting an active holiday or for those who prefer to relax.
Filey’s visitors are following in famous footsteps, including those of the writer Charlotte Bront?, who stayed at Cliff House (now the Bront? Café), the composer Frederic Delius and the Mountbatten family. While the old medicinal baths have long since gone, the proud Victorian houses lining the crescent and overlooking colourful manicured gardens mix well with the fishermen’s cottages. The town centre is small and friendly, with many unusual shops.
Filey’s Edwardian Festival presents a week-long look at life in bygone days. Enjoy strawberry teas served by ladies in period costume, Punch and Judy shows, barrel organs, brass bands and processions.
