Huddersfield Choral Society

The textiles industry has left Huddersfield with a rich legacy of fine Victorian buildings such as the railway station, once described as ‘the finest façade of any such building in the Country’. Architecturally the town boasts an incredible 1,660 listed buildings! 

The Lawrence Batley Theatre offers a varied programme of dance, drama and comedy, and there are regular live music nights in the huge variety of bars, pubs and clubs throughout the town. Huddersfield Art Gallery has an excellent permanent collection of British Art, including works by Francis Bacon and Henry Moore, and the Media Centre’s TEST gallery offers contemporary photography and media exhibitions. 

The world famous Huddersfield Choral Society reside here and the renowned Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival takes place every November. Throughout the year, the town is alive with festivals and events, including the Huddersfield Food & Drink festival, poetry and jazz festivals, carnivals, concerts and exhibitions.  

Dominating the Huddersfield Skyline, the modern Galpharm Stadium, contrasts with Castle Hill and Jubilee Tower, built to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Jubilee. Visit the Tower or trace the town’s history at Huddersfield’s Tolson museum.

For those who enjoy quality shopping and food, Huddersfield’s cosmopolitan cafes and restaurants, high-street shops and Victoria plazas offering choice that will cater for all tastes and budgets.
