Withernsea

Groynes at Spurn Point

Withernsea is a wonderful blend of seaside attractions with just a touch of the wilderness about it – where the sea and the sky seem to go on for miles and the weird world of Spurn Peninsula lies just beyond.

Climb to the top of Withernsea Lighthouse for spectacular views over the town, out to sea, along the coast and across the flat landscape of Holderness.

This lively, traditional resort offers plenty of entertainment for everyone on and off the beach. A thriving market is held several days a week and the newly refurbished Valley Gardens, a beautifully landscaped open space with seating, children’s play equipment and a stage, presents open air concerts, events and activities during the main season.

Beyond Withernsea the land dwindles to the extraordinary, three-mile long, spindly finger of sand and shingle which is Spurn Point, jutting right out into the Humber Estuary. You only have to visit it to see why it is know as “the oddest place in England”.

Must see and do
