Hull, East Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Wolds
ENJOY ENGLAND VIDEO: Simon Calder explores Hull & East Yorkshire
The maritime City of Kingston upon Hull has a relaxing atmosphere that only a waterfront city can offer. The marina forms an elegant focal point just a few minutes away from the city’s contrasting mix of award-winning museums, shopping and nightlife. Hull is also home to The Deep, the world’s only submarium. Discover Hull on foot by following one of the self-guided walks where you will discover there is a great choice of restaurants, a lively programme of events and quality accommodation.
Just next door, the gentle undulating Yorkshire Wolds hold spectacular scenery. Open roads lead to the charming and ancient market towns such as Driffield - 'Capital of the Wolds' - and the historic town of Beverley with its Gothic Minster. The Wolds have countless villages, with ancient inns, ponds and fine churches, and for a glimpse of grandeur there is Burton Agnes Hall and Burton Constable Hall, outstanding Elizabethan country houses, together with the Georgian Sledmere House and Sewerby Hall. Moving along to the coastal resort of Bridlington with its award winning beaches and fun entertainment make it the ideal resort for all the family. Further south, the quieter resorts of Hornsea and Withernsea offer the holiday maker a different but no less attractive experience, the adventurous will also want to discover Spurn Point, a unique peninsula home to many types of birds and wildlife.
