Trowbridge

Exhibit at Trowbridge Museum

Trowbridge, the county town of Wiltshire, lies in the heart of the South West of England approximately 10 miles from Bath. It is considered the natural centre of West Wiltshire’s five small industrial towns and it is now the third largest town in Wiltshire, after Salisbury and Chippenham.

As well as being the county town of Wiltshire, Trowbridge is also the administrative centre of both Wiltshire County Council and West Wiltshire District Council.

The town's lengthy history is recorded in the museum, which tells the fascinating story of Trowbridge's people and past. The woollen industry played a crucial part in the town's development and the museum is located in the last woollen mill in Trowbridge, which closed its doors as a mill in 1982.

Trowbridge also holds a Farmers’ Market in the town centre on the fourth Friday of each month.
