Portishead

The Marina at Portishead

Portishead is magnificently situated with sweeping views of the Severn Estuary, the Welsh coastline, both Severn bridges, Flatholm and Steepholm to one side and the beautiful and scenic Gordano Valley to the other.

The picturesque Lake Grounds offer plenty of space for children to play freely. The location is ideal for relaxing, admiring the spectacular views or watching the cricket or bowls. For the more energetic, activities include pitch & putt, rowing boats and tennis. This is a fabulous place to picnic; alternatively, refreshments are available from the café or tearoom, which hosts an old fashioned sweet shop, or from one of the bars and restaurants. Spend an afternoon on the traditional Victorian high street with a good mix of original shops and modern stores to suit all tastes.

Visit Portishead’s heated open-air swimming pool to catch the sun’s rays and have fun from May to September or why not visit Parish Wharf leisure centre.

Portishead’s new marina offers exciting opportunities to sail the upper reaches of the Bristol Channel. It houses up to 150 boats within the historic port.

Well worth a visit, the work of several internationally acclaimed sculptors is on view here, including the monumental and graceful ‘Angels of Portishead’.
