Paignton

Oldway Mansion

Families love Paignton, its long sandy beaches, colourful atmosphere, paddler-friendly waters and first class attractions. All the essential ingredients for a magical family holiday.

During the summer months, life revolves around the seafront, which comes alive to the sound of laughter and holiday fun. But there is also another side to this distinctive seaside town, which can be found at the 500 year old Kirkham House and in the glamorous elegance of Oldway Mansion. Oldway was home to the Singer Sewing Machine family and its opulent interiors were modelled on Versailles, earning the mansion the name of “little Versailles”.

Paignton has four long safe sandy beaches making it a popular choice for relaxing and safe seaside holidays. Its rocky coves include an underwater nature reserve and rock-pooling is a favourite holiday past-time.

By day there are attractions galore – Paignton Zoo, Quaywest Waterpark and the Paignton to Dartmouth steam railway, which winds its way through to the pretty riverside towns of Kingswear and Dartmouth. By night Paignton's seafront comes alive with illuminations and is perfect for an evening stroll.
