Ilminster

Ilminster landscape

The fine Minster church that gave the town its name towers above the multitude of small shops, market square and narrow streets crammed with mellow architecture. The church has a spectacular tower which is said to be based on that of Wells Cathedral

A stroll up the high street will take you to the 18th-century Meeting House, which houses an art gallery with ever changing displays, local information centre, shop and cafe.

Nearby Herne Hill offers extensive views over this charming market town and the surrounding South Somerset countryside.

Ilminster is a compact little town, which is well placed for you to take in the nearby attractions such as the award winning Perry's cider museum, the peaceful waymarked footpaths, or simply enjoy the local produce served in many pubs and restaurants.

Accommodation is wide ranging from established hotels to high class bed and breakfasts. This combined with quality food and drink makes Ilminster ideal for a relaxing country break.
