Polperro
Polperro is a 13th-century fishing village with beautiful views, wonderful cliff-path walks along the South West Coast Path, interesting shops and superb pubs and restaurants serving local produce. Once upon a time the streets of Polperro rattled to the sound of pilchard barrels by day, brandy casks and tobacco bales by night. Wagon loads of contraband were hidden or stored awaiting their illicit journey to London over ancient tracks across Bodmin Moor. Browse through the small shops, artist’s studios and converted sail lofts, selling local crafts and jewellery, or sample the delights of the finest Cornish confectionery. The village is virtually traffic free so you can either travel by horse-drawn carriage, omnibus or simply wander at leisure through the narrow streets which lead down to the harbour. Fishing trips and pleasure cruises are easily arranged.
