Cawsand

Kingsand & Cawsand

Situated on the beautiful Rame Peninsula lies the unspoilt and attractive historic fishing village of Cawsand, with its colour washed old cottages and narrow streets. Frequent winners of the Best Kept Village award and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village is an artist's dream. Cawsand Bay offers the perfect place to drop anchor and is popular for swimming, sailing windsurfing and water skiing.

Sometimes described as Cornwall’s “Forgotten Corner”, the Rame Peninsula is just across the river from Plymouth, from where you can take a foot passenger ferry to Cremyll. A haven for those who enjoy life in the countryside, with walking, bird watching, fishing or just lazing. Take in the spectacular scenery walking the 40 mile stretch of the South West Coast Path from Cremyll to Polruan passing through the Mount Edgcumbe House & Country Park. The stunning four mile stretch of sand and surf at Whitsand Bay is popular with beachgoers, surfers and shore fisherman. Try a visit to the 14th-century chapel at Rame Head where a beacon blazed at the time of the armada, or for the golfer a round of golf at the Whitsand Bay golf course at Portwrinkle looking out over the sea. Nearby is the car and passenger ferry from Plymouth to Torpoint, Antony House and Gardens and at St Germans a magnificent 12th-century church built on the site of an earlier monastery which had been the seat of the Cornish bishops.
