Haslemere travel guide
Haslemere is a quaint and charming town with distinctive character and steeped in history. This historic market town was granted a Charter to hold a weekly market by Elizabeth I in 1596 and still celebrates with a bi-annual Charter Fair.
Absorb the town’s essence by strolling the pretty streets with its timbered and tile hung houses and cottages or browse the interesting independent and specialist shops which keep the town centre vibrant and individual. Visit the museum, situated at the northern end of the High Street which was originally built to provide educational opportunities and now houses galleries on natural and human history. The museum also marks the western end of the Greensand Way, a long distance pathway which ends in Kent.
Haslemere is the gateway to wonderful walking country and makes a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside and picturesque villages.
